Overview
Context Menu Enterprise ("the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that adds productivity tools to the right-click context menu. This policy explains what data is collected, by whom, and how it is used — covering both the extension and the contextmenuenterprise.com website.
The developer of Context Menu Enterprise does not collect, store, or have access to any personal data generated through your use of the extension. All data either stays on your device or is transmitted directly to third-party services you configure.
1. The Extension
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The extension stores the following in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local), on your device only:
Your Quick Search engine configurations
Your Response Repo snippets
Your Autolinker rules
Your Context AI prompt templates and API provider selection
Your Note Clipper target configurations (service names, page IDs, webhook URLs)
Your Team Config URL (if configured)
API keys you enter for OpenAI, Anthropic, or Notion
Your Pro subscription status (a true/false value)
None of this data is transmitted to or accessible by the extension developer.
Data Sent to Third-Party Services
The extension sends data directly to third-party services when you use specific features. In every case, the data goes from your browser to that service — it does not pass through any server operated by Context Menu Enterprise.
ExtPay and Stripe (Pro subscription)
When you purchase or activate a Pro subscription, ExtPay collects your email address to create and authenticate your account. Payment processing is handled by Stripe. The extension developer does not receive or store your email address, credit card number, or any payment information. ExtPay's privacy policy is available at extensionpay.com.
OpenAI, Anthropic, or a custom AI endpoint (Context AI)
When you use the Context AI feature, the text you have highlighted on the page is sent to your configured AI provider along with your selected prompt. This data goes directly to the provider using the API key you supply. The extension developer does not see this data. Review the privacy policy of your chosen provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or your custom endpoint operator).
Notion, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or a custom webhook (Note Clipper)
When you use Note Clipper, selected text, images, or video content from the current page is sent to your configured destination. If you have "Include Source" enabled, the URL and title of the current tab are also included. This data is sent directly to the destination service using credentials you provide. The extension developer does not see this data.
User-defined Team Config URL
If you or your administrator configures a Team Config URL, the extension fetches a JSON configuration file from that URL every 4 hours. No user data is sent in this request beyond a standard HTTP request (which may include your IP address as seen by the server hosting the config file).
Data the Extension Accesses but Does Not Transmit
Clipboard contents: When you invoke a Quick Search or Note Clipper action using the clipboard, the extension reads your clipboard contents to perform the requested action. This data is used only to execute your request and is not stored or transmitted beyond the destination service you selected.
Page content and tab information: Content scripts for Autolinker and Context AI run on all pages you visit. Autolinker scans page text to apply your configured hyperlinking rules, entirely locally. The Context AI overlay listens for your menu selections. Neither script transmits page content to any server. Tab URLs and titles are accessed only when you explicitly invoke Note Clipper with "Include Source" enabled.
Data the Extension Does Not Collect
The extension does not collect analytics, usage statistics, crash reports, or any telemetry. The developer has no visibility into how, when, or how often you use the extension.
2. The Website (contextmenuenterprise.com)
When you visit contextmenuenterprise.com, standard web server and analytics tools may automatically collect information about your visit, including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages viewed, and time of visit. This information is used solely to understand website traffic and is not linked to individual users. Cookies may be set by the website or embedded third-party tools (such as a payment or analytics provider).
3. Third-Party Links
The extension and website may reference or link to third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
4. Data Retention
Data stored locally by the extension remains on your device until you uninstall the extension or clear its storage. Data held by third-party services (ExtPay, Stripe, your AI provider, Notion, Slack, etc.) is subject to those services' own retention policies.
5. Your Rights
All users: You may delete all locally stored extension data at any time by clearing the extension's storage via Chrome settings or by uninstalling the extension.
European residents (GDPR): If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. To exercise these rights regarding ExtPay account data, contact ExtPay directly. For any other questions, contact us at support@contextmenuenterprise.com.
California residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the extension's features change. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
